EXPOSED IN A HUNDRED SUNS (2012-)

Historical monuments are always accompanied by political / ethical contexts. However, what monuments intrinsically provide us are totally new relationships that each one of us individually makes with the surface of objects, which have been directly exposed to the past event and consequently altered, by experience.
If we simplify monuments into abstract meanings, such as “peace” or “antiwar”, many nuances related to our memory and emotion would be overlooked. Therefore, we, who do not have the experience of an atomic bombing or Daigo Fukuryu Maru Incident, ought to linger on the surface of things.
Listen to the new stories of yours and mine that are woven from the surface of monuments. Through new emotions and sense of reality that arise individually within each of us, we will finally discover a narrow pathway to share memories of others.
